> Sangalila Ridge Trek

Sangalila Ridge in the Darjeeling region forms part of the border between India and Nepal in the northeastern Indian Himalayas, West Bengal state. It usually involves a steep two-day hike up to the ridge, about a 1500m elevation gain ending at 3600m above sea level. We opted to do that part with a jeep, and focused on the ridge walk itself. It's noted for its spectacular Himalayan views, Mt. Everest in particular, as well as its wonderful profusion of Himalayan rhododendron forests and wildflowers. I did the trek with some lovely folks I'd met in Darjeeling - Natalie, Dan and Raina, all from the UK - guided by the charismatic Mr. Rumba.
